Here's the last cat that I've been known to drive 300+ miles to see. Shakertown Kitty, a tortie Heinz 57 barn cat. She's about 15 years old in this photo from 2001 or 2003 (last time I visited Shakertown, in Pleasant Hill, Kentucky). But as soon as I get to Shakertown I'd have to run up and down the shade-covered lane looking for Shakertown kitty. This drove my mother nutz. I was more excited in Shakertown Kitty than I was in the beauty and history of the Shakers of
Pleasant Hill, Kentucky. Shakertown Kitty loved to be petted, but don't pick her up, she'd scratch your eyes out in a heartbeat.
