Did Colin Firth have an excellent Christmas and an even better Boxing Day?

Since I've been having a rotten time of seeing decent Colin Firth movies lately, a friend at work suggested I rewatch "Pride and Prejudice," which I did yesterday for several hours.  Even now almost 15 years later, this film still inspires me about Regency England, the clothes, the manners, the high society versus burgeoning middle class views, etc.  Colin Firth as Fitzwilliam Darcy....sigh...superb!

Before watching P&P I did a little photo shoot of the boys, Cinnamin and Clove, I mean.  The dominant subjects of this blog.  Here you see a pic of Cinnamin I took in the morning yesterday, never did I realize until after the shoot that Clove horned in.

Is that Cinnamin a  handsome boy?  No wonder I'm always calling him "pretty boy" and he eats this up like better than ice cream.

Here you see Clove in my doll display cabinet.  Everytime I open the darned door, he sneaks in on the bottom shelf, so yesterday I thought I would give him a taste of his own wilyness and take a pic of him...by the time I found my camera he was looking for a way out...too much time around the dolls is obviously not to his preference.

Lastly I can't refuse to post a pic of Cinnamin taking a cat bath in sunshine.  Yes, the sun does occasionally shine in Flushing, Michigan.

I am WRONG!

In my profile I say that I've only ever had cats as pets.  Not true!  When I was a freshman at Oakland University thirty years ago, I purchased three exotic goldfish from KMart or the store equivalent at that time.  I called them, "Mario," he was a black fancy goldfish, "Orla" a multicolor goldfish (named after my great grandfather who was a drunk and a womanizer), and "Drayton," a regular-looking goldfish.  Drayton was named after my great great grandfather, David Drayton Brooks, who was a rebel in the American Civil War.  I kept Mario, Orla and Drayton about one month and finally I flushed them in the toilet as it got to be too difficult to move them back and forth to Imlay City on the weekends (I almost always went  home every weekend at Oakland).  Cruel, it is true, but I did once have 3 goldfish in addition to a plethora of cats.

Colin Firth was nominated today for a Golden Globe for "The Single Man."

Please don't throw away this opportunity to present Cinnamin, Clove and myself with a great movie, Mr. Firth.  You can tell by the Meezers' expressions at the left that they are highly doubtful that you will entertain us with a fine movie as all we're seeing lately from you is junk.  Give us something like your performance in "Then she found you."  Dude, you owe us a good movie!!

For some reason I'm in a blogging state of mind: returning to Buffy...

No one (meaning my parents or sisters) seem to recall what really happened to the second litter of Buffy.  She had 4 kittens and one was a calico, a female we called "Marmalade."  Our grandmother, Dorothea Tellis Hackett told us that only calico cats could have calico kittens, but Buffy one-up'd our grandmother with Marmalade...nothing worse than proving Gram wrong with her statements.

Shakertown Kitty...

Here's the last cat that I've been known to drive 300+ miles to see.  Shakertown Kitty, a tortie Heinz 57 barn cat. She's about 15 years old in this photo from 2001 or 2003 (last time I visited Shakertown, in Pleasant Hill, Kentucky).  But as soon as I get to Shakertown I'd have to run up and down the shade-covered lane looking for Shakertown kitty.  This drove my mother nutz.  I was more excited in Shakertown Kitty than I was in the beauty and history of the Shakers of Pleasant Hill, Kentucky.  Shakertown Kitty loved to be petted, but don't pick her up, she'd scratch your eyes out in a heartbeat.

The last female cat I ever was a Human for: Mercedes

Here's Mercedes, possibly a Maine Coon Cat, she was large, but very light-weighted for a big cat, she constantly drooled on me, and always had to sit on my lap.  Have I mentioned I'm not really found of cats sitting on my lap? Perhaps it was Mercedes who made me go nutz with her constant need to sit in my lap and drool all over me.  Not only was she a drooler, but her meow was just annoying.  She meowed when I left to go work in the library in the morning and in the summertime I could hear her meowing 3 flights up in my apartment as she was expecting my return so she could start lap-sitting and drooling all over again.  A beautiful cat but entirely too needly for me...give me boy cats!

Other cats in my life's history...

One of my favorite cats as an adult was Atticus. He was conceived on the 4th of July 1992 and once he was born, moved in with me 5 weeks later. Here you see Atticus the day he moved from Imlay City to Ionia where I worked my first librarian job.

He was first a "she" until he had to pee and started digging in the carpet and the "lightbulb" finally turned on in my head and I got him in the litterbox before damage occured, and right after this I saw that Atticus was not a she, but a he. If you look behind him, he is scarcly bigger than the history book on the floor behind him. Also I notice the awful yellow shag carpet Atticus lays down he. He was a frequent puker, due to cat hair balls and they were always horrible to find in this nasty carpet until you stepped in it. Yucko.

Colin Firth, what's up with these recent awful movies I'm watching that you're acting in?

I'm sorry to say, but I watched "The Accidental husband" yesterday. It's atrocious and I adore Colin Firth and Uma Thurman...the plot was stupid, the acting was miserable, and worse of all, Colin Firth didn't get the girl again in the movie! Dude, do you need me to be your Hollywood and UK agent? Colin Firth had better started acting in some better movies or I'm going to have to write a blog in protest or something vicious like this!

Serene thoughts, Sarah the blogger, look at your happy, contented cats on the right, Cinnamin and Clove. They aren't worried about Mr. Firth's not having a talented agent of record in finding him good roles any more. Serene happy cat thoughts, Sarah!

Does Colin Firth prefer Santa Claus or Father Christmas?

I haven't posted in sometime!  Drat the holiday season!  Good excuse to blame my laziness on.  It's December 8, 2009 and Christmas is only 17 days away.  I'm terribly behind in my Christmas shopping, haven't even decorated the house, in fact, just took down most of the autumnal decorations I had about the first floor of the house.  Cinnamin and Clove don't care how I decorate the house.  They look on my fall colors with the bored look of a cat who needs another 18 hours of sleep in addition to the 18 hours they've just had.

Clove, Cinnamin and myself in holiday yesteryear.

Watched Colin Firth in "Turn of the Screw" a  horrible movie about a English governess with ghosts...ghoulishly boring.  Colin Firth was only in it about 2 minutes...where are the good Colin Firth movies?!!  I want them!  I need to see them!!
