These are my two Siamese cats, Clove is on the left and looks like he needs one heck of an attitude adjustment and on the right is the loverboy Cinnamin, doing the thing he does best, sleeping. The photo is from February 2005 after I'd had a serious party of quilters over to my new home and I had to keep the two cats in the basement as I'm paranoid of losing these two cats. Cinnamin didn't take kindly to the strangers who were at the house that day and Clove really didn't like be penned up all day in the basement.My two Siamese cats are just ordinary cats. They will never do anything extraordinary in my presence. The best thing they do when I'm home from work and watching them is sleep, one of their many catnaps of the day. I've seen clips on youtube where you see cats meowing and it sounds quite human. Cinnamin rarely ever meows and when he does it's sounds like he is still a kitten. Clove is a major cat talker about the time he gets fed (Siamese cats are known for their vocal abilities) but Clove's meow is just a meow.
Cinnamin and Clove do not do cat tricks. Clove, when he was a kitten, used to follow torn-up paper into a little ball when it was thrown across the room and he'd fetch it back (afterall Siamese cats are known as the "Dogs" of cats) but now he just runs after it and hides it somewhere (last week I did some major furniture rearranging and found where he hides crumpled up balls of paper-under the sofa). Clove, recently has been chasing his tail, a new cat act for a decidely old 5 year old cat. Cinnamin, is not known for much exhibition other than sleeping, and now that the weather is colder he seeks out the heat register in the floor and lays across it body-length. When I'm sitting down in my chair I wonder why it's cold and the furnace is chugging out heat like it's supposed to, I reach down with my hand and feel fur, Cinnamin the heat-thief is taking a nap.
Cinnamin was born on 26 August 2003 and Clove not quite a year later on 8 September 2004. My boys are 6 and 5, getting middle-aged for cats, but when they play with each other as they do every night I come home from work, you'd believe they were much younger than this.
I don't know if Colin Firth likes cats, even Siamese cats, but it would be cool if he did, he's an amazing actor. Just saw him in "Nanny McPhee" where he played Mr. Brown, widower, and father of 7 incorrigible children. I am going to have to purchase this movie, it was most excellently done and a fit dvd to add to my limited dvd collection.
